Account closure
Overview
We’re sorry to see you go! Account and card admins can go through the account closure process from the Brex dashboard, although, depending on your account type, you may need to get in touch with Brex Support.
Brex card with monthly payments
To close your Brex account, reach out to our support team. Before contacting us, please follow the steps below. Step 1: Migrate any recurring charges to another form of payment. Step 2: Redeem any Brex points you've accrued. If you put your points towards statement credit, please keep your redemption dollar amount less than or equal to your used balance. We cannot reimburse a negative used balance after closure. Note: Once an account has been closed, any Brex points that have not been redeemed cannot be recovered or put to use. Step 3: Initiate a payment for your outstanding balance to Brex. Please note that closing your account cannot be undone.
Brex business account
If you have more than one Brex business account, you have two options. You can either close all of your business accounts (closing your account altogether) or close a select number of business accounts, keeping your main account open.
Closing one account
If you have more than one Brex business account, an account admin can close one of them while still leaving the rest of the accounts open. Step 1: Navigate to the Settings page under your company name in the top right of your dashboard. Step 2: Go to the Company tab and scroll down to Brex business accounts. Step 3: Click Close next to the corresponding account that you want to close. Step 4: In the pop-up window, confirm the account, where the funds will be transferred to, and click Get started. Step 5: Read over the steps involved in closing the account and click Next. Step 6: Review and agree to the Terms & Conditions and click Close account. Your account will now be closed.
Closing all accounts
An account admin can also close multiple Brex business accounts at once by following the steps below. Step 1: In your Brex dashboard, navigate to the Settings page, under your company name in the top right. Continue to the Company tab. Step 2: Scroll to the Business accounts section and click Close all accounts. Step 3: In the pop-up window, confirm the accounts to close and click Get started. Step 4: Review the steps involved in closing the account and click Next. Step 5: Select a reason for closing and click Next. Step 6: Review the Terms & Conditions and click Close all business accounts. Step 7: Your accounts will now be in a suspended state. Click Close to return to the dashboard and complete the steps to withdraw funds and fully close out each of your accounts. If you have funds allocated to MMF, please wait 1-2 business days for them to liquidate before transferring. If you no longer need one of your accounts or prefer to use it for another purpose, please first remove any funds from the account and then contact Brex Support.
Account visibility after closure
Following the closure of your account, you can still use your email address and password to sign in to the dashboard for read-only access. You’ll be able to see your historic account activity, as well as download statements and other account documents, even once your account is closed. At no point following your account closure will your read-only access be revoked.
Brex business account balance
When you choose to close your Brex business account, you’ll be prompted to transfer your funds via ACH to another account.
Team data
You can still download data surrounding your employees with Brex accounts by signing in and exporting the tables in either Expenses, Accounting, or Team.
What happens to my information
We’re sorry to see you go! Once your account has been closed, here is what you can expect in regards to your Brex business account, accrued rewards, and overall account data.
Account data
Once your account is closed, all information that can be deleted will be removed from Brex databases. Certain information — or de-identified information associated with your company’s Brex account — may nonetheless remain on systems owned or maintained by Brex if required to comply with the law, our contractual obligations, or carrying out legitimate business functions. Our privacy and data use practices are outlined in our Privacy Policy. Section 7 specifically explains account closures and rejections.
Rewards points
All rewards points accumulated on your account should be redeemed prior to closing your account.
Statements
You can find historic account statements under Account in your dashboard. Brex business account statements, in particular, are located in Accounts > Brex business accounts.
