Operations at Brex

The Operations team is the bridge between our product and our customers. Our priority is to keep our customers happy and their businesses protected, while delivering vital information back to our internal teams. We are responsible for underwriting all of our customers, while simultaneously managing Brex’s risk exposures. We work cross-functionally with Compliance, Data, Product, and Engineering to allow Brex to scale efficiently, keeping quality top of mind.

What you’ll do

The Business Operations Analytics team is a crucial component of the Operations organization, dedicated to driving excellence in customer experience, protecting the company's bottom line, and enabling business growth through data-driven insights. As a Business Operations Analytics Associate, you will play a key role in shaping our operational strategy by delivering comprehensive analytical solutions that optimize processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and safeguard profitability. You’ll partner with teams across credit, fraud, compliance, banking, and growth to identify challenges, develop data-driven solutions, and drive strategic initiatives. 

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our Vancouver office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday, starting the week of January 6th, 2025. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year, for a minimum of one week at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Address business challenges by analyzing problems with moderate complexity and contributing to actionable solutions that align with business needs.
  • Perform data analysis and insights delivery by leveraging intermediate data wrangling techniques to extract, clean, and analyze datasets, providing recommendations that support cross-functional objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their needs, deliver data-driven insights, and recommend improvements to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within specific business areas, proposing and helping implement solutions to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and performance improvements.
  • Take ownership of medium-scale projects and initiatives, managing them from planning to execution with guidance from senior team members, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to stakeholders at various levels, building the case for proposed initiatives and ensuring alignment on next steps.
  • Contribute to high-priority projects by coordinating efforts, tracking progress, and maintaining alignment with strategic objectives, escalating risks and challenges as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, serve as a key point of contact for cross-functional collaboration, and ensure alignment with team and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in analytics and leading data-driven strategy, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry, with a proven ability to drive impact
  • Proven experience in advanced analytics and the ability to identify and solve complex business problems using data-driven insights with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL/Hex/Snowflake, Python)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present insights and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels; influence without authority
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, bringing clarity to undefined problems
  • Experience in owning projects end-to-end, driving initiatives from concept to execution with minimal supervision
  • Adaptable to changing business needs, with a commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Must be willing to work in office 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday

Bonus 

  • Experience with credit risk management, fraud risk management in the payment industry is a plus

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $97,600 - $122,000 CAD.  However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
